Søren Riis

Søren Riis is Associate Professor at Roskilde University's Department of Communication and Arts, affiliated with the Science Studies Centre and Centre for Digital Citizenship. He holds a PhD from Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and specializes in continental philosophy integrated with Science and Technology Studies (STS).

Riis's research examines philosophy of technology through phenomenological and existential frameworks, analyzing modern artifacts and their societal impacts. His current projects investigate digital publics and trust, with particular attention to ontological implications of emerging technologies.

Publications bridge philosophical traditions including Heideggerian thought, postphenomenology, and actor-network theory. Recent works explore philosophical foundations of architecture and technology's role in reshaping human-world relationships.

Recognition includes the Carlsberg Foundation postdoctoral fellowship (2008). Riis serves on editorial boards including Philosophy and Technology and participates in academic organizations like The Society of Philosophy in Denmark and Danish STS (DASTS).
