Sébastien S.Th. Biset

Sébastien S.Th. Biset is a faculty member at École de recherche graphique (erg) in Brussels, Belgium. He teaches History and current events in the arts for both 19th century (B1) and 20th and 21st centuries (B2) courses.

As a doctor in art history, musician, and zythosophist, Dr. Biset's research focuses on the pragmatic dimension of contemporary creation, the aesthetics of the situation, and the 'relational paradigm' explored in his doctoral thesis. His scholarly work extends into experimental music practices, bridging artistic creation with audience mediation. His research interests reflect a strong engagement with how art functions within specific contexts and creates social connections.

Dr. Biset is deeply embedded in Brussels' cultural ecosystem as a co-founding member of (SIC), an editorial and curatorial platform publishing artists' books and art theory. He's also a key figure in the MNÓAD platform organizing concerts, performances, and operating as a micro-label across Le Roeulx and Charleroi under 'the Vecteur' structure.

Currently coordinating Archipel for Médiathèque de la Fed. Wallonie-Bruxelles (PointCulture), he oversees a multifaceted project functioning as a permanent collection, virtual museum dedicated to experimental music, and event structure promoting this musical form. This initiative represents the synthesis of his theoretical scholarship with practical cultural production.
