Sébastien DUBENT

Sébastien Dubent is a Research Engineer and Head of the Surface Treatments & Corrosion Unit at CNAM's Industrial Materials Laboratory, concurrently leading Glow Discharge Spectrometry (GDS) operations at the Processes and Engineering in Mechanics and Materials Laboratory (PIMM). He joined these institutions in September 2012 and maintains affiliations with CEFRACOR and the Technical Association of the Steel Industry.

His research encompasses:

• Corrosion mechanisms and electrochemical analysis of metallic materials
• Development of surface treatments and environmentally sustainable coatings
• Advanced characterization via glow discharge spectrometry
• Metal matrix composites for lightweight engineering
• Structural health monitoring systems for industrial predictive maintenance

He directs two major projects:

• ANR COQTEL: Embedding ultrasonic sensors and AI-driven digital twins for real-time corrosion detection in aircraft, aiming to reduce €2.2B annual industry losses.
• CompoFus: Fabricating Fe-TiB₂ composites via laser metal deposition to achieve 15-30% weight savings in automotive components.

At CNAM, he teaches corrosion/anticorrosion in Materials Engineering programs, supervises graduate theses, and develops industry training curricula. His technical leadership extends to committees standardizing surface analysis and corrosion prevention methodologies.
