Sylvia Kritzinger is a Professor in the Department of Government at the Faculty of Social Sciences. Her research focuses on elections, democracy, political representation, and public opinion, with a particular emphasis on Austrian politics and electoral systems. She has led interdisciplinary projects on adolescence and democracy, neo-authoritarianism in Europe, and scientific skepticism. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to just institutions and peaceful societies.
Her research interests include electoral behavior, voter apathy, and the role of media in shaping political discourse. Recent studies analyze the 2024 Austrian general election, far-right political movements, and visual literacy in data analysis. She frequently engages with media and academic communities through interviews and webinars, discussing topics like voting at 16 and migration policy.
Key projects include IP-PAD: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on the Politics of Adolescence & Democracy (2023–2027) and Neo-authoritarianisms in Europe and the Liberal Democratic Response (2022–2025). Her publications span over 300 works, including analyses of panel studies and electoral systems.
