Sylvia Bennett

Sylvia Bennett is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Finance, Information Systems, Economics, and Risk Management at the University of Houston-Downtown. She joined UHD after retiring from a 16-year career as a Lead Auditor at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, where she advised on audit functions related to statistical reporting and monetary policy tools.

Her research focuses on economic research, with expertise in risk management, monetary policy, and financial systems. She teaches courses including Managerial Economics, Principles of Economics, Corporate Finance, and specialized courses in international banking and finance.

Dr. Bennett advised Emmanuel Ramirez on a directed study project analyzing Federal Reserve economic indicators during the Coronavirus Pandemic. She actively participates in university curriculum committees and has attended numerous faculty development workshops on active learning and assessment.
