معرفی
Professor Sylvestre Bonnet is a faculty member at Leiden University's Leiden Institute of Chemistry (LIC), specializing in bioinorganic chemistry and biomimetic systems. His research focuses on developing light-activatable metallodrugs for targeted cancer therapy with minimal side effects, as well as solar energy storage via metal-based photocatalysts. He holds a professorship and leads a team of PhD candidates including Maarten van Ginkel and Lisa Rieger.
Key research areas include metallodrugs for glioblastoma treatment, lipid vesicle-based drug delivery systems, and bioorthogonal photochemistry. Bonnet's work bridges fundamental inorganic chemistry with biomedical applications, leveraging light activation to control drug release and therapeutic effects. His group has published extensively in journals like ACS Central Science and European Journal of Inorganic Chemistry.
Bonnet teaches advanced courses such as 'Metals and Life' (MSc Chemistry) and 'Energy Transition: Photon Power'. His lab investigates hypoxia-responsive prodrugs and supramolecular assemblies for renewable energy applications. Collaborations include projects on zinc detection via fluorescence enhancement and ruthenium complex-functionalized nanoparticles.
