Syed Zulfiqar Rizvi is a Research Fellow at Macquarie University, with a focus on Applied BioSciences. His work bridges entomology, chemical ecology, and integrated pest management (IPM) in agroecosystems.
Education:
- PhD in Chemical-ecological interaction among plant, insect, and fungus (Macquarie University, 2016)
- MSc in Biotechnology (Teesside University, 2010)
- BSc in Botany (University of Karachi, 2007)
Rizvi’s research examines behavioral ecology of pests, tri-trophic interactions, and habitat management to enhance natural enemies in IPM. His projects address pest suppression in vegetable farms and ecological dynamics in grapevine systems.
Recent publications highlight landscape context (2023), habitat management review (2022), and chemical signaling in host-plant quality (2015). Collaborations with G. Gurr, A.C. Johnson, and O. Reynolds underscore his interdisciplinary approach.
Rizvi’s h-index of 93 and 14 research outputs (2012–2025) reflect significant contributions to agroecology and pest management. He has presented at conferences on topics like IPM strategies and grapevine pest dynamics (2014–2019).
