Ana L. Llandres is a Researcher at the Institute of Research on Insect Biology (IRBI), part of the Faculty of Sciences and Techniques at Université François Rabelais in Tours, France. She holds a PhD in Ecology from the University of Granada (2008) and a Master’s in Ecology and Environmental Sciences from Complutense University of Madrid (2007). Her research focuses on tri-trophic interactions, plant-pollinator-predator dynamics, and plant-herbivore-predator relationships. She has conducted post-doctoral work in Spain, France, and international institutions, including Cambridge University and Macquarie University.
Her research integrates behavioral ecology, physiological mechanisms, and ecological modeling. Key projects include studying crab spider predation strategies, pollinator anti-predator behaviors, and the application of Dynamic Energy Budget (DEB) models to pest control in agroforestry systems. She has secured grants from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the British Ecological Society (BES), and the Fondation de France.
- Notable contributions include demonstrating that social bees use alarm pheromones to avoid dangerous flowers and elucidating hormonal factors in crab spider color change.
- Her work bridges fundamental ecological theory with applied pest management, emphasizing natural enemy conservation in agroecosystems.
Awards include the I3P-BPD2005 doctoral fellowship and fellowships for international collaborations at Cambridge and Macquarie University.
Llandres collaborates with global institutions and has advised on projects involving weaver ants’ roles in plant-pollinator networks and pest management strategies in agroforestry. Her future work aims to refine DEB models for natural enemies of pests to optimize sustainable agricultural practices.
