Syed Moiz is an Associate Professor in the School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, where he has served since 2006 after previously directing an accounting program at a Wisconsin private university. He currently chairs the Appeals Commission and serves on the Complaints and Grievances Commission.
His academic credentials include:
- Master of Business Administration from Minnesota State University & University of Karachi
- Bachelor of Science from University of Karachi
Professor Moiz's research centers on interest-free banking systems (Islamic finance) and financial reporting methodologies, with field research conducted across four countries during his 2015 sabbatical. His work bridges theoretical accounting frameworks with practical applications in alternative financial systems and community-based financial literacy initiatives.
As an educator with 20+ years of experience, he teaches across the accounting curriculum in multiple delivery formats including international instruction in China. His VITA program leadership provides students with direct client service experience while serving vulnerable populations. Professor Moiz holds CPA and CMA certifications and maintains active membership in the Wisconsin CPA Society, NACVA, and ICIFE.
Community engagement defines his professional identity through founding a financial literacy non-profit, board service for two organizations, and interfaith dialogue participation. His global perspective—developed through visits to 17 countries—enriches his approach to cross-cultural finance education.
