Sy-Yen Kuo is the Pegatron Chair Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Taiwan University (NTU). He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1987). Previously, he served as Dean of the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at NTU (2012–2015), and concurrently as Dean and Chair Professor at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (2006–2009, on leave from NTU). He also chaired NTU’s Electrical Engineering Department (2001–2004).
His research focuses on dependable and secure systems, edge/cloud computing, IoT, and quantum computing. He has authored 450+ publications, holds 62 patents (24 U.S., 23 Taiwan, and 15 international), and received multiple best paper awards.
Research Contributions:
Dr. Kuo’s work bridges theoretical and applied computing. Key areas include:
- Reliability engineering and fault-tolerant systems
