Sverker C. Jagers is a Visiting Professor (Zennström Professorship) in Climate Change Leadership at Uppsala University (part-time from September 2022 to December 2023). He holds a primary position as a Professor of Political Sciences at Gothenburg University and directs the Centre for Collective Action Research. His research focuses on environmental politics, interdisciplinary approaches to climate governance, and the design of socially accepted policy instruments like CO2 taxes. Jagers emphasizes effective climate leadership through collaboration across natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities.
He contributed to Uppsala’s Climate Change Leadership group, delivering an inaugural lecture on collective action and climate governance in November 2022. His work explores how democratic institutions and anti-corruption measures influence environmental policy success. Recently, he collaborated with Bergen University on studies about public acceptance of fossil fuel subsidies removal in countries like Mexico and Indonesia.
