Sven Riethmueller is a Clinical Associate Professor of Law and Robert Todd Lang ’47 Entrepreneurship Fellow at Yale Law School, serving as the inaugural Director of the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Clinic. He holds an A.B. from Dartmouth College (1991) and a J.D. from Columbia University Law School (1994). His expertise spans corporate law, intellectual property commercialization, and entrepreneurship, with a focus on technology and life sciences sectors. Prior to academia, he was a partner at Pepper Hamilton LLP and Foley & Lardner LLP, advising on cross-border transactions and serving as general counsel for publicly traded companies like LION Bioscience.
His research focuses on equity compensation practices in pre-IPO companies, corporate governance, and venture capital dynamics. Recent work critiques '11th-hour option discounting' strategies and analyzes unprofitable venture capital investments. He frequently contributes to media discussions on executive pay structures and IPO processes.
