Suzanne Simpson

Suzanne Simpson is a Senior Lecturer in Teacher Education at the Carnegie School of Education, Leeds Beckett University. As a HEA Fellow and CollectivED Fellow, she brings over twenty years of experience in education and senior leadership across early years, primary, secondary, and adult education sectors, with international project leadership in Asia and Africa.

Her educational qualifications include:

• Currently pursuing PhD studies

Suzanne's research centers on holistic educational paradigms, emphasizing social/moral/spiritual/cultural dimensions of learning, child and staff wellbeing, and behavior management. Her work integrates philosophical inquiry with practical applications in values-driven leadership, outdoor learning, and international educational contexts, while advancing supervision frameworks for professional development.

She holds recognition as a HEA Fellow and CollectivED Fellow, and actively contributes to the Policy, Power, and Philosophy research cluster and Supervision in Education Network.

Suzanne supervises master’s students researching children’s mental health, emotional literacy, and staff wellbeing. She leads the Early Career Transition program for student teachers and has significantly contributed to national initiatives including the Department for Education’s Senior Mental Health Leadership training. As Internal Quality Assurer for Forest Schools Training, she champions outdoor education while advocating for professional supervision systems to enhance practitioner wellbeing and organizational culture across educational settings.
