Dr. Suzanne Brown is a Senior Lecturer in Initial Teacher Education at the Sheffield Institute of Education, part of Sheffield Hallam University's College of Social Sciences and Arts. She holds an EdD and supervises Masters and Doctoral research in education. Her work focuses on teacher recruitment/retention, flexible working policies, and women's lived experiences in education. She previously taught science for 20 years in Nottinghamshire schools, holding leadership roles as Head of Science and CPD Coordinator.
Key affiliations include the Social and Economic Research Institute and leadership of the Effective Flexible Working in Schools Practitioner Network. Research highlights include exploring how traditional school practices affect career progression, menopause implications for teachers, and post-pandemic workplace adaptations.
