معرفی
Suzanne Paradis is a Professor of Biology at Brandeis University and an affiliated faculty member of the Neuroscience Program and the Benjamin and Mae Volen National Center for Complex Systems. Her research focuses on defining the molecular and genetic programs underlying synapse development and neuronal connectivity, particularly in relation to neurological disorders such as epilepsy and autism spectrum disorders.
- Education:
- Ph.D., Harvard University
- B.A., Cornell University
Research Interests: The Paradis Lab investigates molecular mechanisms of synapse formation and circuit connectivity using biochemical, molecular, genetic, and electrophysiological approaches. Key areas include the roles of genes like Rem2 and Sema4D in regulating dendritic morphology, inhibitory synapses, and seizure suppression. Current work explores translating these findings into therapies for acute seizures.
Selected Research Trends: Her recent publications highlight the interplay between semaphorins, GTPases, and kinases in synapse development, with a focus on rapid protein-induced synaptogenesis and its therapeutic potential for neurological disorders.
Scientific Awards:
- Thomas A. King Faculty Ally Award (2022)
- Sloan Research Fellow (2009-2011)
- Smith Family Award (2008-2011)
- Basil O'Connor Starter Scholar (2009-2011)
- Career Development Award, Society for Neuroscience (2007)
Grants and Collaborations: Her work has been supported by grants from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Smith Family Foundation, March of Dimes, and Society for Neuroscience. She collaborates with researchers in neurophysiology, computational modeling, and translational neuroscience.
Lab Ethos: The Paradis Lab emphasizes a diverse and inclusive environment, fostering teamwork and knowledge-sharing to advance understanding of neural network mis-wiring in disease states.
