Suzanne Kay Lunsford

Suzanne Kay Lunsford serves as Professor of Chemistry in the College of Science & Mathematics at Wright State University, where she has progressed through the academic ranks from Instructor to full Professor since 2010. Her dual research focus bridges cutting-edge electrochemical sensor development with innovative chemical education methodologies.

Dr. Lunsford's educational background includes a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Cincinnati, preceded by post-doctoral work at the same institution and a B.S. in Chemistry from Xavier University. Her research interests span electrochemical sensor development for neurotransmitter detection and heavy metal analysis, alongside chemical education research focused on inquiry-based learning approaches that enhance STEM education.

Her recent publications reveal a consistent focus on developing selective electrochemical sensors using modified electrodes (particularly with nanomaterials like carbon nanotubes, zirconium dioxide, and titanium dioxide) for detecting neurotransmitters and environmental contaminants.
