Associate Professor Suzanne Jamieson is a prominent academic at the University of Sydney, specializing in workplace equity, labor law, and occupational health and safety. She transitioned from a career as a senior public servant and trade union official to academia in 1990. Her research focuses on gender equity in the workplace, legal frameworks governing work, and the intersection of gender with occupational safety policies. Dr. Jamieson has held influential roles, including serving as a staff-elected Fellow of the University of Sydney Senate (1999–2005), member of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Board, and Director of the University’s Celtic Studies Foundation.
Her current research includes an Australian Research Council Discovery Grant investigating the efficacy of OHS prosecutions in NSW and Victoria, in collaboration with Professors Ron McCallum and Toni Schofield. Key past grants include a 2007 study on workplace death and injury prosecution impacts.
Research interests span law and literature, legal regulation of work, and global labor policy comparisons. She has contributed to policy debates on equal pay, migrant worker safety, and gendered approaches to workplace injury prosecution.
