Dr. Suzanne Everley is a Reader in the Sociology of Physical Education, Activity, and Health at the University of Chichester. She holds multiple leadership roles including Deputy Director of the South Coast Doctoral Training Partnership, Programme Lead for the MA in Sport Pedagogy and Physical Education, and Development Lead for the Women’s Sport Leadership Academy. She founded and chairs the Safeguarding in Sport Special Interest Group under the Association of Child Protection Professionals, and serves as an Associate Editor for Child Abuse Review.
Her research focuses on amplifying children’s voices in sports, education, and health contexts, particularly in safeguarding policies and physical literacy programs. Methodologically, she employs creative approaches like visual ethnography and participatory research. She has collaborated with organizations such as the FA, NSPCC, and Sport England, and presented globally at conferences including BERA and ICSSA.
