Dr. Suzanne Curtin serves as Vice-Provost and Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs, and Professor at Brock University. Her research examines early speech perception, word learning, and social communication in typical and atypical development. Funded by SSHRC and NSERC, her work investigates how infants build phonetically driven phonological systems and utilize distributional information in speech input.
She co-leads a SSHRC Partnership Grant on literacy in multicultural contexts. Recent publications explore infant speech preferences, autism diagnosis predictors, and cross-linguistic perception in toddlers. Her studies frequently employ experimental paradigms to map acoustic cues to cognitive and linguistic development.
