Suvi Lakkala is an Associate Professor (Docent) and Senior Lecturer in Special Education at the University of Lapland, specializing in inclusive education research. She also holds a Visiting Professor position at Vytautas Magnus University (2021–2026). Her research focuses on inclusive education frameworks, interprofessional teamwork in student welfare, educational transitions, and teacher professional development. She has led and participated in multiple funded projects, including initiatives on hybrid pedagogy post-pandemic, interprofessional collaboration, and strengthening teacher educators' skills.
Her work emphasizes practical applications of inclusive education, such as hybrid teaching models and outdoor interventions, particularly in rural contexts like Finnish Lapland. Recent publications explore pandemic impacts on remote learning, student welfare case studies involving social work and legal students, and cross-national comparisons of inclusive education policies.
