Sushreyo Misra is a Research Scientist at the Center for Catastrophe Modeling and Resilience at Lehigh University and an Adjunct Professor. His research focuses on infrastructure vulnerability, resilience modeling, and machine learning applications in disaster risk assessment. Previously, he worked as a Senior Data Scientist at One Concern, a catastrophe modeling firm.
His work emphasizes transportation systems, including rail-truck intermodal networks and post-disaster restoration modeling. Key areas include seismic resilience of bridges, extreme event impact analysis, and decision-support frameworks for infrastructure recovery. He combines expert surveys, simulation models, and machine learning to quantify risks and enhance resilience strategies.
Misra's publications (2017–2023) reflect trends in applying quantitative methods to transportation and civil infrastructure resilience. His research bridges academia and industry, with practical applications for disaster response planning and policy development. He contributes to academic programs such as the Master’s Degree and Graduate Certificate in Catastrophe Modeling and Resilience at Lehigh.
Notable projects include post-earthquake building usability assessment, post-Hurricane Harvey bridge damage analysis, and probabilistic fragility modeling of railway bridges. His work is driven by collaboration with practitioners to translate theoretical models into actionable insights for resilient infrastructure design.
