معرفی
Susanne M Arnold, MD, is a Professor with joint appointments in the Department of Internal Medicine and Radiation Medicine at the University of Kentucky, where she also serves as Associate Director for Clinical Translation and Program Leader in the Translational Oncology Research Program at the Markey Cancer Center. She holds the Buck-Kentucky Lung Cancer Research Chair and is deeply involved in advancing clinical oncology research.
- Post Doctoral Fellow, University of Kentucky (1998)
- Doctor of Medicine, University of Kentucky (1992)
- Bachelor of Arts, Brown University (1985)
- Residency, University of Virginia (1985)
Her research focuses on phase I clinical investigations, lung and head and neck cancers, radiation-chemotherapy interactions, and population studies in Appalachia. She employs translational approaches to bridge laboratory findings with clinical applications, particularly in cancer therapeutics and biomarker discovery.
Dr. Arnold’s recent publications reflect a strong emphasis on immunotherapy, tumor genomics, clinical trial design, and interdisciplinary research. Her work spans from first-in-human drug studies to population-level genetic analyses, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to cancer research. Key themes include tumor mutation burden, antibody-drug conjugates, Mendelian randomization in cancer risk, and innovative trial methodologies.
- University Research Professor, University of Kentucky (2020)
She has led over 185 research projects and grants, many as principal investigator, with major funding from pharmaceutical partners such as Merck Sharp & Dohme and Bicara Therapeutics. Her leadership extends to mentoring and collaborative science, with extensive national and international research networks. Dr. Arnold is also involved in initiatives that link cancer research with broader medical challenges, including dementia and health disparities in underserved populations.
She leads multiple active clinical trials in lung and head/neck cancers and is a key figure in the Translational Oncology program, driving innovation from bench to bedside.
