Susanne Frennert is an Associate Professor at Lund University, affiliated with the Department of Design Sciences under the Faculty of Engineering. She coordinates the research group in ergonomics, rehabilitation engineering, and universal design, and leads projects like HARIA and MAGICIAN focused on human-robot interaction and digital eldercare. Frennert is a member of the Engineering Health profile area at LTH and contributes to digital justice research.
Her research emphasizes human-centered design and co-design methodologies to develop welfare technology, gerontechnologies, and social robots tailored to end-user needs. She investigates the societal impacts of digitalization in healthcare and eldercare, particularly in reskilling, upskilling, and digital justice. Recent publications highlight assistive robotics, domestication of welfare technologies, and heterogeneous platform usage in healthcare settings.
Projects include EU-funded initiatives (HARIA, MAGICIAN) and national collaborations (DigiJustice). She serves on the boards of the Swedish Collaboration of Digital Care Research and Centre for Ageing and Supportive Environments.
