Susanne Dietrich is a researcher at the University of Tübingen, affiliated with the Faculty of Science and the Department of Psychology within the Evolutionary Cognition research group. Her work focuses on cognitive strategies during sentence comprehension, neuroplasticity in blind individuals, and the neural mechanisms of speech processing.
- PhD in Biology from the University of Tübingen with a thesis on vervet monkeys and zoology
- Doctoral degree in Cognitive Neuroscience from MPI Leipzig
Her research spans Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, and Speech Processing, utilizing fMRI, TMS, and EEG to study context-dependent language processing and nonverbal communication. Publications from 2015–2023 highlight her expertise in neuroplasticity, ultra-fast speech, and visual cortex adaptation.
She has taught interdisciplinary courses on cognitive science topics at the University of Tübingen since 2011, including seminars on experimental cognitive science, sound symbolism, and neuroimaging. Her academic career includes 10 years at the Hertie Institute for Clinical Brain Research (2007–2017) and ongoing work since 2017.
