Susanne Brorson

Prof. Susanne Brorson holds the professorship for Design and Experimental Design at the Faculty of Architecture, HafenCity University Hamburg since 2022. Previously, she served as a Visiting Professor at Riseba FAD University Riga (2021-22) and Substitute Professor at Hochschule Wismar (2019-2021), following research assistantship at BTU Cottbus (2017-2019).

Her research centers on Vernacular and Climate-Just Architecture in the Baltic Sea Region, investigated since 2016 at TU Berlin. This work directly informs her practical experimentation through STUDIO SUSANNE BRORSON on Rügen, where she implements climate-responsive architectural solutions derived from academic inquiry.

Supported by tutor Oskar Worbs, Prof. Brorson received Federal Professorship Program funding for her dissertation. Her industry experience spans prominent firms in London, Berlin, Amsterdam, and Oslo before establishing her Rügen-based practice.

Her studio operation on Rügen functions as both research laboratory and professional practice, directly translating academic findings into built climate-just architecture.
