Susanne B. Montgomery is an Associate Dean for Research at the School of Behavioral Health, Director of Research at the Behavioral Health Institute, Head of the Division of Interdisciplinary Studies, and Professor of Social Work and Social Ecology at Loma Linda University. Her expertise spans health disparities research, community-based interventions, and translational research.
Education: PhD in Health Behavior/Epidemiology (University of Michigan, 1987), MPH in Health Behavior (University of Michigan, 1984), and an MS in Nutritional Science (Justus Liebig Universität, Germany, 1982).
Research focuses on reducing health inequities through community partnerships, including work on diabetes prevention among Latinas, prostate cancer screening for Black men, and mental health interventions for veterans and genocide survivors. She has led projects like the Community Resiliency Model (CRM) in Sierra Leone and Rwanda.
Her recent articles analyze disparities in cancer treatment access, mental health during the pandemic, and resiliency programs. She actively collaborates with global organizations like KERUS Global Education and the CDC.
Montgomery’s community engagement includes health fairs, asthma prevention initiatives, and advisory roles in San Bernardino County health programs. She has presented at conferences such as the American Public Health Association and International Society of Traumatic Stress Studies.
