Susanne Alldén is a Senior Lecturer in Peace and Development Studies at Linnaeus University’s Faculty of Social Sciences. She holds a PhD in Political Science from Umeå University (2009) and combines academic research with extensive field experience in conflict-affected regions of Central and West Africa. Her primary research focuses on gender dynamics in development, conflict-related sexual violence, and governance for sustainable peace in post-conflict societies. She has led UN/EU-backed programs in DR Congo, Burkina Faso, and Rwanda, emphasizing community-driven solutions for reintegration and gender-responsive governance.
Her research groups include the Linnaeus University Centre for Concurrences in Colonial and Postcolonial Studies. Key projects include the European Migration and Integration Network (EMIN), addressing migration challenges. Her work bridges academic insights with practical policymaking, particularly in women’s rights and resilience-building in conflict zones.
Publications span journals like Medicine, Conflict and Survival and International Journal for Equity in Health, with a focus on male survivor care in DRC and empowerment programs for sexual violence survivors. Her 2024 chapter in Masculinities and Queer Perspectives in Transitional Justice critiques racial and gendered impunity in sexual violence accountability.
