Susanna Geidne is a Senior Lecturer at Örebro University, affiliated with the School of Health Sciences and the Department of Health Sciences. She holds a PhD in Public Health Sciences (2012) and a Bachelor of Education in Physical Education. Her academic roles include serving as Director of Studies for the Sport Science Doctoral Programme (2018–2025) and membership in the MH Faculty Board (2023–present). She is a core member of the ReShape research group focusing on sport, health, and physical education.
Her research centers on health promotion through sports, particularly in sports clubs as health-promoting settings. Key projects include leading the Forte-funded 'Sports Clubs as Health-Promoting Arenas? A Question of How' and contributing to EU-funded initiatives like HPSCoach-EDU and WHO's Health Promoting Sports Clubs Implementation Guide. She also leads CIF-funded projects targeting older adults in health-promoting sports clubs.
Teaching focuses on thesis supervision in physical education and sport management programs, emphasizing mixed-methods research. She co-supervises PhD students at the University of Lorraine and has mentored multiple doctoral candidates. Notable grants include funding from Forte, CIF, and international collaborations under Erasmus+ and WHO programs.
Her work extends to network leadership, including HEPA Europe's Working Group on Health Promoting Sports Clubs and guest editing for the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. She collaborates with global partners on guidelines and frameworks for health-promoting sports federations and clubs.
