Susan Wynn is an Associate Professor of the Practice of Education at Duke University's Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. Her roles include directing the Secondary Teacher Preparation Program (2020–2021) and serving as Director of the Program in Education (2018–2021). She holds an Ed.D. from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (2003), an M.Ed. (1997), and a B.A. (1985) from Averett University.
Her research focuses on teacher practices, student autonomy, mentorship programs, and principal leadership in supporting pre-service and novice teachers. She has received grants including the NSF-funded R2 program (2020–2025) and a Department of Agriculture grant for youth education initiatives (2019–2020). Notable awards include the Second Crowell High Table Dinner (2012).
Wynn teaches courses such as EDUC 101 (Reimagining Public Education) and EDUC 243S (Children, Schools, and Society). Her professional activities include presenting at conferences like the National Association for Gifted Children and serving on editorial boards for journals like the International Journal of Applied Educational Studies.
She supervises student teaching practicums and collaborates with community organizations like the OSPRI Lab to advance education technology and PK-12/university partnerships.
