Margaret Lee serves as Associate Professor of Education and Director of Gifted Education within the Department of Education at Converse University, where she instructs graduate students pursuing the M.Ed. in Gifted Education and South Carolina Gifted and Talented Endorsement.
Her academic qualifications include:
- Ed.D in Curriculum and Instruction from Gardner Webb University
- Dual M.Ed. degrees in Elementary Education and Gifted Education from Converse College
- BA in Accounting from North Carolina State University
Dr. Lee's research specializes in gifted education with emphases on talent development frameworks, culturally responsive pedagogy, and equity-focused identification of high-potential students from under-resourced communities. Her practical contributions include co-authoring Talent Development in School: An Educator’s Guide to Implementing a Culturally Responsive Talent Identification and Development Program and updating the SC Best Practices Manual.

She has secured over $1.6 million in grant funding to advance gifted education initiatives. Dr. Lee directs the Athena Summer Academy serving Spartanburg County gifted students and serves on the South Carolina Consortium for Gifted Education board. Previously a National Board Certified Teacher in Spartanburg School District Seven, she coordinated the Citizen Scholars mentoring program and held leadership roles in the National Association for Gifted Children including Professional Learning Network Communications Chair.
