Susan Tyler serves as a Lecturer and Academic Advisor in the Department of Criminal Justice & Legal Studies within the School of Applied Sciences at the University of Mississippi. She joined the university in April 2007, initially working in Financial Aid and Athletics Compliance before transitioning to academic advising in January 2017. In addition to her full-time advising responsibilities, she teaches two courses annually and contributes to university athletics as part of the 'stats' crew for home basketball and baseball games.
Her educational background includes a Master of Arts in Higher Education from the University of Mississippi, earned in 2015.
Her professional expertise centers on academic advising within criminal justice and legal studies programs, with specialized focus on student transitions for transfer populations and family financial management. These interests directly inform her teaching in Transfer Student Experience (EDHE 305) and Family Financial Management (NHM 443), where she applies practical frameworks for student success in higher education.
Tyler actively supports undergraduate education through her dual roles in advising and instruction, working within the Criminal Justice (B.S.C.J.) and Law Studies (B.S.L.S.) programs on the Oxford campus. Her contributions extend beyond academics to university athletics operations through statistical analysis during sporting events.
