Susan Schuld is an Associate Professor in the Department of Voice, Speech, Accents & Dialects for the Actor at the University of Florida's School of Theatre + Dance. She has over 20 years of professional experience in acting and vocal coaching, with affiliations at institutions including the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts. She served as Director in Residence at Shakespeare’s Globe, London (2003) and co-founded Theatre Lila.
Education & Professional Experience:
- Extensive teaching across BFA programs and high schools including NYU Tisch CAP 21 and Professional Performing Arts High School
- Worked with interdisciplinary programs such as MCV International Dentist Program (accent empowerment for medical professionals)
- Conducted workshops in the Middle East and coached TEDxRVA speakers (2014-2015)
Research Focus: Specializes in voice training for actors, accent empowerment, and bridging performing arts with healthcare education. Her work emphasizes practical application through immersive theatre training and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Labs/Teams: Co-founder and active member of Theatre Lila, a collective focused on actor training and ensemble creation.
