Susan O. Cappelmann is a Clinical Professor in the Physician Assistant Studies program at the College of Health Professions, Pace University, New York City. She teaches a wide range of courses in clinical medicine, pharmacology, anatomy, and professional development, and plays an active role in curriculum delivery and accreditation efforts.

Her research and professional interests center on physician assistant education, clinical pharmacology, pathophysiology, and interprofessional practice. She is deeply involved in advancing PA education through leadership, accreditation, and curriculum innovation.
Susan O. Cappelmann has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Paul Lombardo PA Educator of the Year Award from the New York State Society of Physician Assistants and multiple Faculty Awards for Distinguished Service from Pace University, as well as the Human Resources Employee Recognition in 2016.
She has served in numerous advisory and leadership roles, including as a delegate to the American Academy of Physician Associates House of Delegates, a site visitor for the Accreditation Review Commission on Physician Assistants (ARC-PA), and a member of the Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies Advisory Board. She has also contributed to professional development through presentations at annual PA conferences from 2011 to 2024 on topics such as accreditation, end-of-life care, and pre-PA education.
She is actively involved in multiple professional organizations, including the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA), American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA), and New York State Society of Physician Assistants (NYSSPA), where she has chaired the Education Committee.
