Dr. Susan Nunan is a Clinical Academic and Course Coordinator at the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work, The University of Queensland, since 2010. She coordinates courses like NURS7124 Clinical Practice 1 and NURS7130 Professional Practice, focusing on nursing education and older adults' health.
- Qualifications: PhD in Nursing, Master of Health Professional Education, Graduate Certificate in Clinical Practice (Wound Management), Bachelor of Arts, and postgraduate studies in Mental Health.
Her research centers on falls risk assessment and management, particularly in residential aged care facilities (RACFs). She completed her PhD on evaluating the validity and feasibility of a falls risk assessment tool in Australian RACFs through a mixed-methods study. Additional interests include healthy ageing, dementia care, and older adults' health.
Her publications analyze falls risk tools, their implementation in long-term care, and impacts on patient safety. Key themes span gerontology, clinical practice, and health sciences, emphasizing reducing falls-related burdens on individuals and systems.
Susan has extensive clinical experience in general medical, coronary care, and surgical units, and in community and gerontological nursing across Queensland and New South Wales.
