Susan McRoy

Susan McRoy is Professor and Department Chair of Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Toronto and BS/MS degrees in Computer and Communication Science. Her research develops natural language processing solutions for healthcare applications.

Dr. McRoy's work creates intelligent systems for extracting health information from texts and enabling human-machine communication. She investigates NLP methods for analyzing online health forums, consumer health questions, and clinical discourse. Additional research explores human-robot interaction through natural language dialog systems.

Her publications focus on improving information access for patients and providers, with recent work examining LLMs for health sentiment analysis and AI approaches to predicting health behaviors during pandemics.
