Susan Martin-Marquez

Susan Martin-Márquez is a Professor at Rutgers University, holding joint appointments in Cinema Studies, Spanish and Portuguese, and Comparative Literature. She serves as Director of the Cinema Studies Program for twelve years. Her research focuses on Spanish imperial cultural history, colonial legacies in Africa/Caribbean, and transnational cinema studies.

Educated at the University of Pennsylvania, her work bridges historical analysis with cultural texts, including cinema, literature, and oral histories. Recent projects examine transatlantic film networks of the 1960s and carceral practices in the Spanish Empire.
