Susan Lupack is a Senior Lecturer in the Ancient History Department within the School of Humanities at Macquarie University, where she joined in February 2017. She brings extensive international experience from teaching positions at Brooklyn College, University College London, and the University of Pennsylvania, along with her prior role as Editor of Hesperia, The Journal of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens (2013-2017).

Dr. Lupack's research focuses on Aegean Bronze Age civilizations, with particular expertise in Minoan and Mycenaean religion, economy, and society. Her fieldwork spans archaeological projects in Italy, Israel, Cyprus, and Greece, including the Pylos Regional Archaeological Survey, Athenian Agora Excavations, and the Eastern Boeotia Archaeological Project (2006-2012). She currently co-directs the Perachora Peninsula Archaeological Project and contributes to an ARC Linkage Project investigating a 19th-century shale-mining community.
Her recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on Aegean religious practices across time periods, with significant contributions to major reference works including the Oxford Handbook of the Bronze Age Aegean. Current research includes her forthcoming book Mycenaean Religion: The Creation and Expression of a Society's Ideology and a Ted Ed video on The Decipherment of Linear B.

Dr. Lupack actively supervises research and participates in significant archaeological fieldwork. Her current projects include the Perachora Peninsula Archaeological Project (2019-2026) and the ARC Linkage Project 'History, heritage and environmental change in a deindustrialised landscape' (2020-2024). She is also affiliated with the Centre for Ancient Cultural Heritage and Environment (CACHE) at Macquarie University.
Her laboratory work focuses on ceramic analysis and archaeological survey methodology, particularly through the Perachora Peninsula Archaeological Project which investigates the religious and social landscape around the Sanctuary of Hera. She frequently presents her findings at international conferences and has established significant collaborations with researchers across Europe and Australia.
