Susan Hall is an Assistant Professor and Family and Community Health Area Coordinator in the Nursing Department at Winston-Salem State University. She holds a Doctor of Education (EdD) from Walden University and a BSN from Winston-Salem State University. Her research focuses on enhancing nursing education through high-fidelity simulation to improve clinical judgment and critical thinking in maternity care.
Dr. Hall has over 33 years of clinical experience as an obstetrical nurse at Forsyth Medical Center, specializing in fetal monitoring, childbirth education, and maternal-newborn care. She is certified in inpatient obstetric nursing and has held leadership roles in staff management and Magnet survey preparation.
Her professional memberships include AWHONN, ANA, National League of Nursing, and Foster Parent Association. Awards include the 2007 'Remarkable 45' recognition and a nomination for the 'Great 100.' She actively mentors high school students and participates in community outreach programs.
Dr. Hall currently oversees the Maternal Newborn program as maternity coordinator and chairs the Nursing Division's curriculum development. Her work integrates simulation technology to bridge classroom theory with clinical practice, emphasizing teamwork and patient safety.
