Susan Halabi is the James B. Duke Distinguished Professor of Biostatistics & Bioinformatics at Duke University School of Medicine. She serves as Chief of the Division of Biostatistics and is a Member of the Duke Cancer Institute. Her research focuses on clinical trials, statistical analysis of biomarker and high-dimensional data, and the development of prognostic and predictive models for prostate cancer.
- Ph.D., University of Texas Health Sciences Center (1994)
Dr. Halabi’s work bridges biostatistical methodology with clinical oncology applications, particularly in prostate and bladder cancers. She specializes in trial design for biomarker validation, survival analysis, and liquid biopsy technologies. Her recent publications emphasize circulating tumor DNA, androgen pathway inhibitors, and cross-tumor therapeutic strategies.
The 15 most recent articles highlight her expertise in biomarker-driven clinical trials, genomic profiling, and precision oncology. Key themes include time-to-event modeling, liquid biopsies, and racial disparities in cancer outcomes.
Scientific Awards
- Duke University Distinguished Professorships
Dr. Halabi’s grants include major awards from the Department of Defense (DoD) for prostate cancer research, National Cancer Institute (NCI) funding for biomarker validation, and collaborations with institutions like Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and University of Wisconsin. She has led pivotal work in the CALGB and TAPUR clinical trial consortia.
