Susan Groce is a Professor of Art in the Department of Art at the University of Maine. She earned her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from the University of Michigan. With an extensive international career, she has served as Artist Mentor for Vermont College's MFA program and held visiting positions at over 40 institutions worldwide, including residencies at Atelier 17 (Paris), Edinburgh Printmakers (Scotland), Open Bite Print Workshop (Australia), and MacDowell Colony (New Hampshire).
Her research focuses on innovative print technologies with emphasis on:
- Safer print materials and sustainable processes
- Experimental drawing techniques
- Collaborative print development like the Orono Ground project with Friedhard Kiekeben
Groce's artistic contributions include over 200 exhibitions internationally, with works held in collections across the U.S., Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. Her scholarly recognition includes prestigious awards:

She maintains active professional engagements through lectures and research collaborations focused on advancing safer printmaking practices globally.
