Susan Gagliardi

Susan Gagliardi is a Professor at UMass Chan Medical School, affiliated with the Neurology Department and the T.H. Chan School of Medicine. She holds additional roles in the NeuroNexus Institute and Radiology Department at the same institution. Her academic journey includes a BA in Biology from Radcliffe College (1965) and a PhD in Anatomy from Harvard University (1971).

Her research focuses on myelin sheath development, genetic mutations in myelin proteins (MBP and PLP), and their effects on oligodendrocyte morphology in mouse models. Key areas include intergenic interactions in double-mutant mice and the role of PLP gene mutations in myelin membrane integration.
