Dr. Susan E.O. Field is a Professor of Psychology at Georgian Court University (GCU), located in Lakewood, New Jersey. She holds a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Harvard University (1991), with a thesis titled On Saying Unpleasant Things: An Experimental Investigation of Politeness Theory. Her academic leadership includes serving as Chair of the Department of Psychology and Counseling (2010-2015) and Director of Advising (2015-2020). She currently directs major grants including a Title VII Grant ($2.47M) developing transition programs for students with intellectual disabilities and a Title III Grant ($2.14M) coordinating student success initiatives like the Writing Center and online teaching training.
Her research focuses on prejudice related to sexual orientation, gender, and disability, alongside scholarship on postsecondary teaching and advising methodologies. She has held progressive faculty ranks since 1994, advancing from Assistant to Associate Professor before achieving full Professor status in 2005.
