Susan E. Arruda is an Associate Professor of Biology at Franklin Pierce University, affiliated with the College of Health & Natural Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Dartmouth College (2004) and a B.A. in Biology with a Biochemistry concentration from the College of the Holy Cross (1998). Her academic work spans teaching, research in Drosophila genetics, and service on institutional committees.
- Ph.D., Molecular and Cellular Biology, Dartmouth College (2004)
- B.A., Biology (Biochemistry), College of the Holy Cross (1998)
Her research focuses on genetic mechanisms and cell signaling pathways in Drosophila melanogaster, particularly phototransduction and neural communication. Publications highlight her work on the pawn locus and carcinine signaling in photoreceptor synapses.
Recent publications emphasize genetic analysis of Drosophila photoreceptor function, cloning of novel genes, and biochemical signaling pathways in neural systems. This aligns with her expertise in molecular biology and protein biochemistry.
- Member of Sigma Zeta National Honor Society (2012–Present)
- Ryan Fellow, Dartmouth College (2002)
She has received NH-INBRE grants for pilot research (2010–2015) and research training (2015–Present), and serves as Biology Department Coordinator (2013–Present) and on multiple advisory/service committees.
