Susan E. Amron is an Adjunct Lecturer in Law at Columbia Law School, Columbia University, and serves as Chief of the Environmental Law Division for the New York City Law Department. With over 20 years of specialized experience, she focuses on municipal environmental regulations and land use litigation.

Amron's expertise spans environmental impact review, parkland development, drinking water protection, climate change adaptation, wastewater systems, hazardous materials regulation, and groundwater contamination remediation. She provides critical counsel to city agencies on federal, state, and local environmental compliance while representing New York City in high-stakes litigation as both plaintiff and defendant.
Notable legal victories include the $105-million jury verdict against ExxonMobil for groundwater contamination, successful defense of Brooklyn Bridge Park development, Randall's Island athletic field reconstruction, and Manhattanville rezoning for Columbia University's expansion. She spearheaded the 1997 Memorandum of Agreement safeguarding the city's drinking water supply system.
Her pre-government career included six years as a litigation associate at Willkie Farr & Gallagher. At Columbia Law School, she bridges theoretical legal education with real-world municipal environmental challenges, emphasizing practical application in her teaching.
