Susan Douglas

A renowned oboist in central Texas, Douglas specializes in oboe performance, chamber music, and American compositions. Her solo repertoire features J.S. Bach’s Double Concerto, Aaron Copland’s Quiet City, and Richard Strauss’s Oboe Concerto. As a founding member of the Serenata Winds woodwind quintet, she actively promotes American music. She has performed with the Austin Symphony, Georgetown Haydn Festival Orchestra, Corpus Christi Symphony, and orchestras accompanying Austin Civic Chorus and Austin Vocal Arts Ensemble. Previously, she participated in the Festival Orchestra of the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria.

Beyond her Southwestern University duties, Douglas maintains a large private studio teaching oboe. She is deeply engaged in chamber music through Serenata Winds and continues active performance work across Texas orchestras.
