Susan Dauria

Susan Dauria is a full-time Professor in the Department of Anthropology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Social Work at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. Her academic journey began at SUNY Geneseo (B.A.) and advanced at SUNY Albany (M.A., Ph.D.), where she shifted focus from archaeology to cultural anthropology during doctoral research on deindustrialization's impact on ethnic identity in upstate New York communities.

Research Focus: Dr. Dauria investigates socioeconomic transformations through anthropology, specializing in the cultural repercussions of industrial decline, organizational dynamics in workplaces, child development practices, and dance as cultural expression. Her fieldwork spans post-industrial communities in New York and Pennsylvania.

Ongoing Projects:

• Fair Stories: Annual collection of oral histories with students/faculty, published by Columbia County Historical Society and Agricultural Society.
• Pennsylvania Agricultural/Industrial Culture: Multiyear examination of agricultural fairs as cultural touchstones using ethnographic surveys and oral histories.
