Briggs specializes in algebraic combinatorics, focusing on combinatorial models for Kirillov-Reshetikhin (KR) crystals using representation theory. Her work bridges the quantum alcove model and the tableaux model to encode complex structures. She advocates for collaborative, active learning methods to enhance inclusivity and accessibility in mathematics education.
Prior to her current role, Briggs has taught at the University at Albany, Sage College of Albany, SUNY Adirondack, and Bennington College. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes student discovery of mathematical concepts rather than rote memorization.
