Susan Dalton

Susan Dalton is an Associate Professor at the Department of History, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Université de Montréal. Her research focuses on gender and cultural mediation in 18th-19th century France and Italy, with particular emphasis on women's intellectual roles in salons, print culture, and political discourse.

She analyzes the impact of commercial print expansion on women's historical recognition and explores intersections between gender, politics, and cultural heritage in pre-revolutionary Europe.

Dr. Dalton supervises graduate research on topics spanning queer identity in 18th-century Italy, gender dynamics during the French Revolution, and representations of female citizenship. She participates in transnational initiatives like the Deindustrialization and the Politics of Our Time project, contributing to academic discourse on historical memory and social transformation.
