Dr. Susan Creagh is a Lecturer in TESOL Education at the University of Queensland's School of Education. She holds a PhD in Education from the University of Queensland, a Master's in Applied Linguistics from Darwin University, and a BA/Diploma of Education from the University of New England. Her research focuses on language policy, educational equity, and quantitative methodologies, particularly regarding students from linguistically diverse backgrounds. She has held roles such as Research Fellow at ISSR (2015–2017), collaborating with The Smith Family on a federally funded project addressing educational disadvantage.
Creagh critiques national testing systems like NAPLAN, emphasizing how categorizations such as 'Language Background Other Than English' misrepresent outcomes for multilingual learners. Her work includes longitudinal studies on newly arrived migrant and refugee students' academic trajectories.
