Susan Childers

Susan Childers is a Lecturer in the Biology Department at Colby College. She teaches courses including BI133: Microorganisms and Society and BI344: Microbiomes in Health and Disease.

Her research focuses on:

• Microbial respiration and selenium reduction
• Characterization of selenium-reducing enzymes
• Isolation of novel selenium-reducing microorganisms from marine environments and insects
• Human gut bacteria interactions with selenium
